Village of Blackville

Village of Blackville

The village of Blackville is governed by an elected council made up of a mayor and four councillors. Incorporated as a village in 1966, Blackville has a population of 958 and has had a long history related to forestry and salmon fishing.

    This photo made my day. I do know all of the men in this picture, but what makes it extra special for me is that Clayton Ross was my father ( Hally / Harold Ross’s brother ) so then he was my uncle but I never knew him. He would have been 17 in this picture. When he was 26, he died in a logging camp fire in Chute a Caron, Quebec. The story around his death is very interesting. We don’t have any pictures of him so this made my day. We do have a letter he sent to our Mother ( Rita Ross ) which he wrote to her on New Year’s Day. He mailed the letter, and then he was burned to death on January 11th. She received the letter he wrote after the news of his death. He was only 26. Thank you for sharing this picture of an Uncle I never got to know.
