Important Notice: Blackville Santa Claus Parade

The Blackville Fire Department would like to invite everyone to their annual Santa Claus Parade of Lights this Saturday, December 1. The parade kicks off at Hooked ‘N Cooked at 5:00pm and continues up Main Street to the Fire Hall, where Santa Claus will hand out treats.

Please note: following the recent tragedy at a parade in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia last weekend, the Fire Department asks float participants to refrain from throwing candy from their floats.  All float participants must also be on their float. For safety concerns, no walkers will be permitted.

I am so happy to see this rule coming out. I am sorry it had to take a tragedy to address this incredibly dangerous situation.
