S.W. Miramichi River Bridge No.2 in Blackville Reopens

The Southwest Miramichi River Bridge No. 2 on Route 118 Campbell Road in the Village of Blackville has reopened at approximately 9:00pm this evening (Wednesday, August 30). The bridge had been closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic since Monday, June 26 for repairs.

Repairs included the removal of the total deck and sidewalk on the two spans at the west side of the bridge, pier removal and replacement and miscellaneous substructure repairs.

The bridge had originally been scheduled to reopen on Sunday, September 3.

The village of Blackville is governed by an elected council made up of a mayor and four councillors. Incorporated as a village in 1966, Blackville has a population of 958 and has had a long history related to forestry and salmon fishing.
